A mixed-media animated end-of-year impact video created for Airbnb.org, the nonprofit arm of Airbnb that provides emergency housing in times of crisis. The 90-second piece integrates animation with real-world footage supplied by the organization to translate year-end impact into a clear, human story. Delivered in both horizontal and vertical formats, the project was produced under strict brand guidelines to ensure consistency across platforms while amplifying Airbnb.org’s mission.

The storyboard moves from intimate portraits of individual Airbnb.org hosts to a global view of disaster response, combining real-world footage with animation to show how communities were supported during climate-driven emergencies. Impact metrics visualize the scale of housing provided across dozens of disasters, before returning to human stories of families, pets, and first responders finding stability. The film closes with a clear call to action, reinforcing Airbnb.org’s mission to provide safe housing in the wake of disasters.

STYLEFRAMES

Styleframes are crucial for animation projects as they visually convey the final product to clients. Integrating color schemes, typography, composition, and visual elements, enables stakeholders to envision the desired style, mood, and atmosphere. As a reference and guide, style frames ensure the animation aligns with the artistic vision and project goals.

The animation transformed abstract disaster statistics into lived human experience—using character-driven storytelling, real footage, and kinetic data visualization to show how tens of thousands of nights of free emergency housing gave families, pets, and first responders safety and stability across dozens of climate-driven crises worldwide.
